Ilda Freire is a genderqueer Contact Improvisation dancer, manual therapist, and movement enthusiast. Born in Lugo, Spain, they are dedicated to the study and dissemination of dance and performing arts through the platform CuerpoColectivo, which they co-founded and co-direct with María Cantero since 2020.
Their practice is influenced by Capoeira Angola, Flying Low, and various somatic and meditation techniques, such as Traditional Chinese Massage and Vipassana Meditation.
Ilda has taught regular classes in Beijing and Madrid and workshops internationally at festivals like the Chengdu CI Festival, Wuzhen Theater Festival, and Asturias Contact Festival.
Currently, they reside between Madrid and the countryside of Lugo, where, along with María Cantero, they co-organize EspacioARigueira, a space for creation in the heart of nature, as well as the Galicia Contact Festival.
